Our acceptance interview at the Pride of Britain Awards

The team at ITV behind the Pride of Britain Awards programme have kindly agreed to share the uncut video of our acceptance interview at the ceremony. The programme broadcast on October 27th had a piece that was understandably edited to fit the time available so it’s great to be able to show you everything we said at the ceremony itself.

Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo were superb hosts, they encouraged us to speak directly to the audience in the room, knowing that there were influential people listening to us. Many of them have done more than listen, they have helped spread our message of hope to their friends and followers. Hopefully this short video will encourage more people to get behind us.

Our campaign to make suicide prevention a compulsory part of the school curriculum goes on. Our petition now stands at over 146,000; the government must consider it for debate in parliament – we haven’t had a response about this yet. We need to keep pressure on the government; if you haven’t already, please sign and share.

We have also written Gillian Keegan, Secretary of State for Education, asking to meet her – we are awaiting her reply.

Suicide remains the biggest killer of young people in the UK, as a society we need to talk to our children in a safe, controlled way so that they are trained in help-seeking behaviour and signposted to individuals and organisations who can help if the need was ever required.

Not talking about suicide is plain stupid – talking about suicide and suicide prevention saves lives.

Sign our petition. Help us save lives.
