Day 7 Poynton to Buxton

Crystal clear air and cloudless skys greeted us this morning. Again we were joined with people straight from the outset.

Our route took us through Lyme Park (before the gates had been opened) where we were treated to the sight and sounds of the red deer rut – very impressive. We wandered over the Peak District ridges in perfect weather and had the privilege to talk to many people who came to see us, many telling us about the loss of their children to suicide. In most cases no one saw it coming.

Since suicide is the biggest killer of under 35’s in the UK it makes you wonder why the government and Department of Education don’t insist that there is at least one compulsory lesson on mental health & wellbeing and suicide prevention during the PSHE lessons. Just a thought
