Day 6 Media City to Poynton
What a day!
We started on the BBC Breakfast red sofa with Charlie & Naga, they were brilliant, vey sympathetic, asking plenty of sensible (and some funny) questions. We thought we got our message across pretty well.
Before we left Quay House, Mike was nabbed by Radio Manchester.
Against Andy’s better nature (as a Manchester City fan!) we went across to Old Trafford where were introduced to the Man Utd legend Lou Macari. What a man! Lou was also a member or the club no one wants to join – he lost his son in 1999.
Lou was lovely. What a gentleman. He couldn’t have made us more welcome and before we left he more than matched James Bond by committing the Lou Macari Foundation to give our appeal £10,001!
We then had an emotional walk through Beth’s home to of Sale. Hundreds of people turned out to welcome us at Sale Waterside (Mike and I got cheered as we went to find somewhere to have a pee!).
Walking past Beth’s primary school the children lined the streets and cheered us on our way, at Sale High School the children were outside signing “Tomorrow” from Annie. Beth had played the role of Annie in a school production…..
Needless to say there were many tears shed.
Moving onto the airport where we were welcomed by Mike’s colleagues with coffee and more flares before finally doing the long walk
