Shining a Light on Suicide

This morning Andy was back on the BBC Breakfast red sofa; not with Tim & Mike this time but Judd Skelton (Chair of Greater Manchester Suicide Prevention), Andy Burnham and Sam Allerdyce.
We were there to promote the national roll-out of Shining a Light on Suicide campaign. It’s been running in Greater Manchester since 2019, helping people to talk openly about suicide, give training on how to talk to someone you may be worried about and providing recourses that will help save lives.
Shining a Light on Suicide was approached by the League Managers Association (LMA), they wanted to help spread the message of hope. The outcome was this video featuring all Premier League managers along many others, all sending out the message that there is help out there and that talking will save lives.
Yet again BBC Breakfast gave up a chunk of time in their most highly watched slot to feature us talking about suicide prevention. It’s great to see so many people from high profile organisations talking openly about mental health and suicide awareness.
