Day 28 - Hungerford to The Cunning Man

Another day on the Kennet & Avon Canal, our 3rd! This time it was all downhill all the way; we lost 186 feet in 25.2 miles...it wasn’t steep.

Supporters with us every step of the way, many more suicide bereaved parents. The question we are all asking is, why didn’t anyone tell us that suicide kills more people under-35 than anything else? Surely if the biggest thing in our young people’s lives is themselves, we have a duty of care to tell them. We need to teach them skills and understanding that will help them when times are tough – if our young people know help-seeking behaviour they will be equipped to save themselves and others as they grow up.

Please sign our petition to get suicide prevention onto the school curriculum and write to your MP to encourage them to back the Early Day Motion proposed by Dr Neil Hudson (Andy’s MP); Neil’s EDM mirrors our petition. If we can get the public and MP’s backing the proposal, the government will have to listen

Thank you for your support

p.s. The young man on the cover photo of this blog is David, he is one of a relay of baton bearers running between Scotland and Egypt to deliver a message to COP27
