2 days later

This morning we were all together on the BBC Breakfast sofa & in the BBC Radio 5 Live studio before we said our farewells and headed for home.  The last couple of days have been a bit of a blur of people, media interviews and travelling.

We are going to take a few days to begin to process what we’ve just been through so we can capture our thoughts & memories whilst everything is still fresh. Who knows what we’ll do once we start to write things down? Watch this space!

In the meantime, we’ll leave you with another piece from Helen Taylor, the 3 Dads Walking resident poet:

Onwards

We can still feel every footfall,

Every blister, every stride.

We'll remember boisterous weather.

Every vista, deep and wide.

But our journey ends with friendships

With so many questions raised.

We've been walking,

We've been talking

Of the ones we couldn't save.

As you took us through your stories

We were humbled and aware

Of how hard it is to face up

To the sorrow we all share.

They're still members of our families.

We still say their names with pride.

We've been walking,

We've been talking,

And they've never left our sides.

So, we've finished and we're grateful.

Please keep giving if you feel

That the need to catch the falling

Is still urgent and still real.

They will always be our children

Though our worlds have cracked in two.

We've been walking

All together.

And together we'll pull through.
