How can you help?

3 Dads Walking UK2022 may be done as a walk but our campaign goes on.

When we walked across the country we met hundreds of people, suicide-bereaved parents, friends & family of suicide victims, suicide survivors, teachers, mental health professionals, staff & volunteers of mental health and suicide prevention charities, bereavement by suicide experts, politicians, they all said we were talking about the right thing – getting suicide prevention added as a compulsory part of the school curriculum and encouraged us to keep shouting about it.

Suicide is the biggest killer of under-35’s in the UK, we need to train our young people in order to equip them with skills and understanding to deal with the most dangerous thing in their lives – themselves. Using age-appropriate lessons we can create help-seeking behaviour as the norm which will enable young people to save themselves and help their peers.

How can you help?

Sign the petition. If you haven’t already, click the petition button and add your name to the thousands who have already signed. We have hit the 100,000 threshold which means Parliament has to consider this for a debate, however the more names against this, the less likely we are to be ignored.

Write to your MP. Andy’s MP, Dr Neil Hudson has proposed an Early Day Motion which matches our petition. Neil’s EDM has already gained cross-party support – you can check to see if your MP has signed it, if not then write to them to ask why they aren’t supporting this lifesaving initiative.

We need to keep the pressure on the decision makers – they need to understand that we, as a society, aren’t addressing the greatest risk in our young people’s lives. We need to smash the stigma and get people talking about suicide prevention in a safe and open manner.
