Day 13 Beginning of the End – The Wall
Just after leaving Boston, we walked onto the sea defence wall that stretches around the Wash. When we come off it, 45 miles later, we will be at Kings Lynn.
A day of big skies, big winds and great people.
The media interest continues to grow, at various stages of the day we spoke to BBC Breakfast, ITV Granada, ITV Anglia, BBC Radio Lincolnshire and Country Walking magazine. We are grateful for everyone who has helped us spread our message of hope and introduce more people to PAPYRUS.
Even before we left the town, we’d been stopped by a local man who wanted to talk to us about 2 people close to him who he had lost to suicide. Despite the isolated nature of our walk several others came out to share their stories and talk to us about our journey. It’s humbling to hear this wherever we’ve been and extremely frustrating to know that the powers that be appear to be doing nothing to reduce this devastatingly high level of suicide?
Why do so many young people think that the only solution to their problems is to take their own life? The wake of each death causes shock waves through family, friends and colleagues.
We hear this repeated every day on our walk.
