3 Dads Walking – MBE Investiture at Windsor Castle
On Tuesday we were at Windsor Castle where we received our MBE medals from the Prince of Wales.
We were delighted to find that the Prince of Wales was hosting the ceremony; it was fitting because he and the Princess of Wales have been great advocates for young people’s mental health issues and William has written to us personally encouraging us to keep going.
It was a day of mixed emotions; we were very proud to receive the honour, it is a clear indication that we have made a positive impact across the country and that our message of hope continues to be heard. We were pleased to have our family with us on the day, we couldn’t have done anything without their love and support.
Whenever we are engaged in an event that is so emotionally charged as this our daughters are at the forefront of our minds; everything we have done since losing Sophie, Beth and Emily has been our attempt to create something positive from three awful situations. We do what we do to help other families avoid coming down the same route as us; being invested with MBEs gives us renewed enthusiasm and inspiration to carry on trying to make a difference.
Alison Freeman from BBC Breakfast was on hand to capture the event, as ever, her piece captures the day beautifully
