3 Dads Walking 2024 Day 20 – Coningsby to Frampton Marsh

Wonder when we’ll get to the start to find no one else there?

5 people this morning; 2 of Tim’s friends (Ian & JJ who walked with us yesterday), Jack & Jenny from Evelyn’s Butterfly Effect and the legendary John Bell (Walking 4 Hope). Lawrence appeared to reunite us with a bag he’d forgotten to deliver yesterday....

We walked out of Coningsby following the River Bain, it was another lovely morning. Our group strode along sharing stories of our children and what we have learned since losing them and the need to talk to our young people about the biggest risk in their lives...

The flat, forgiving surface along the flood defence made for swift walking so we covered the morning miles much quicker than we expected. We had a short drinks break at Chapel Hill Bridge (provided by Sarla & Sarah again) then headed south towards Boston along the River Witham, this is where we intercepted the route of our walk in 2021. We were now on paths that we knew and would take us all the way to King’s Lynn.

We had lunch at the Witham Way Country Park where we gave our feet a bit of air and changed socks. It was refreshing to sit in the shade. Onwards through Boston where the May Fair was in full flow.

Our route out of town took us back to the flood defence wall; as we walked onto it at Boston we knew that when we walked off this we would be 45 miles further on in King’s Lynn.

Cake presented to us by RSPB Frampton Marsh

As we approached our end point at Frampton Marsh more people came out to welcome us home, many from the RSPB Frampton Marsh Nature Reserve. They invited us back to the café where we were presented with a magnificent cake! We ensured that everyone who finished the day with us had a piece of the lovely lemon sponge. A great way to finish the day!
